POSITION SUMMARY We are a forward-thinking, full-service engineering consulting firm with offices in NJ, PA, NC, and more, headquartered in Cherry Hill, NJ. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Department Head to join our team. This leadership role requires 10+ years of experience and is based out of our Cherry Hill, NJ office.

The Department Head will oversee the management and execution of education projects in NJ, ensuring excellence in design, implementation, and maintenance. This role demands a dynamic leader capable of fostering innovation, driving efficiency, and building strong relationships with educational and private clients. The Department Head will also lead business development initiatives in the higher education and K-12 market to drive growth and expansion of services.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Project Management: Oversee all projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards including coordination with other regional offices and disciplines.

Technical Oversight: Serve as the primary technical authority offering guidance and expertise to ensure optimal design and functionality. Coordinate with support groups on standards, changing legislation and funding that may impact clients.

Budget and Resource Allocation: Manage departmental resources effectively, including staffing, budgeting, and scheduling, to meet project demands and organizational goals. Provide regular updates and reports on department activities, performance metrics, and project statuses.

Quality Control: Implement and enforce stringent quality control processes to ensure all education work meets or exceeds industry standards, RVE established standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure QA/QC of delivered group product is conducted by individual or by peer review.

Training and Development: Mentor and develop team members, promoting professional growth and ensuring the team remains current with industry advancements.

Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understand their needs, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.

Business Development: Provide strategic direction in identifying and pursuing new clients within your target market to drive growth and expansion of services.

Innovation and Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the Education Department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong leadership and team management skills. Matrix management and remote staff management skills a plus.

Proven capability to provide direction to staff in pursuing leads and winning new work and clients.

Proven capability to collaborate with regional offices, multi-disciplinary teams, teaming partners, and contractors.

Deep understanding of NJ codes, standards, and regulations.

Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing complex engineering programs.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strong presentation skills.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to analyze financial reports and set business objectives.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field).

At least 10 years of experience in facilities, design, engineering, and project management, with at least 2-3 years leading individuals and/or teams.

Certifications/Licenses Required

PE License Required

Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands and Working Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use. May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Salary The annual base salary range for this full‑time position in the United States is

$147,000 - $242,550 . This range represents a good faith estimate and is based on factors such as the role, level, and geographic location. Individual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors including skills, experience, education, and training.
