The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist Sub-Journey 2 for the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC) in Anchorage, Alaska.
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Foreman, this position is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and upkeep of interior and exterior building components, systems, and structures at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. The role involves maintaining grounds, plants, and external structures, as well as conducting preventative maintenance on essential utilities and fixtures. Additionally, this position plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of maintenance machinery and equipment by performing a variety of essential tasks necessary for smooth functioning.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and upkeep of interior and exterior building components, systems, and structures at the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
Maintain grounds, plants, and external structures.
Conduct preventative maintenance on essential utilities and fixtures.
Ensure efficient operation of maintenance machinery and equipment through essential tasks for smooth functioning.

Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements, short or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them. Coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals, monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications This job class is part of a series of competency based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor, Trades, and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of work and wage grades within the career area, the core and specific competencies of the career area, required work behaviors, certifications, and physical requirements. The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. PREA standards preclude the department from hiring or promoting anyone who has engaged in, or been convicted of any conduct which would violate PREA standards related to sexual assault including:
Sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institutions.
Convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or
Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.
RECRUITMENT DIFFICULTIES Starting salary may be approved up to Step D-$26.65, if criteria are met.
EDUCATION If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.
