Public Safety Emergency Telecommunicator

to support emergency services by responding to critical calls and coordinating with first responders. This position is essential to maintaining the safety and efficiency of emergency communication within our community.

Public Safety Emergency Telecommunicator I duties may include: Handling emergency and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services using telephone and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) equipment; quickly assessing emergency and non-emergency situations and providing appropriate assistance to citizens; utilizing good judgement in applying policies and procedures while functioning in a stressful environment; communicating and carrying out instructions and coordinating calls for service between citizens and service providers; multitasking, prioritizing, and making quick decisions. Training and advancement

This is an entry-level position working under supervision and will include receiving, processing, and relaying requests for police, fire, or EMS; working on assigned/rotating shift; attending and successfully completing the ECCS 911 academy and on-the-job training, including certifications and progression to Telecommunicator IV. Schedule and attendance

Note: the role requires a structured training period and consistent attendance; no planned or pre-approved leave will be granted during the first six (6) months except in verified emergencies. Alpha I employee subject to immediate recall during major or emergency situations. Compensation and bonuses

Up to an $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for new hires or re-employment as defined in HR policy, with disbursements as follows: $2,500 upon successful completion of Call Taker and Dispatch Support Training or Police Radio training, whichever occurs first. $2,500 upon mastering all training phases including Call Taker and Police, Fire, and EMS radios and receiving a rating of "meets expectations" on the one-year probationary performance appraisal. All sign-on bonuses contingent on acceptable performance. Background and disqualifiers

This position has automatic disqualifiers: Criminal History: Conviction of any felony; any offense involving moral turpitude or gross misconduct; any Class 1 or Class 2 misdemeanor (some may be evaluated case-by-case); undetected serious/repetitive crimes. Traffic Violations: Two or more convictions of driving under the influence. Drugs: Conviction or admission of illegal possession, use, sale, manufacture, distribution or possession of illegal drugs or controlled substances; possession or use of marijuana within the previous 12 months. Others: Any punitive discharge from the military; untruthfulness or withholding information; failure to follow testing instructions. This is not an exhaustive list. Applicants successful in testing will undergo a background investigation, including polygraph. Areas of concern will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Equal Opportunity
