The Exhibitions and Collections Coordinator provides important administrative logistics, design, and preparator support to the Collections and Exhibitions Department. As part of a team, the Exhibitions and Collections Coordinator is a primary liaison between Collections/Installation and Curatorial teams, working to provide logistical, contractual, design, and administrative support for internally and externally generated exhibitions, as well as collections care support to preparators and registrars. Responsibilities
Assists Director of Collections and Exhibitions with exhibition project management Creates project timelines to aid in the tracking of internal and external deadlines, and manages key deadlines Mants exhibition archives including review and culling of paper files and coordination of digital archive Creates exhibitions model chips, and smaller didactics using Adobe Suite Generates publication timelines, and communicates with curatorial regarding all deadlines and budgets Distributes publications to staff and manages mail-outs to authors, venues, lenders, and other contributors Oversees onsite inventory of publications, coordinates releases to outside vendors Applies for ISBN, Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN), permissions, grants, and copyrights as required for all applicable publications Provides digital publications to Texas Scholar Works Mants publication library and historical records in consult with Collections and Information Access Manager Completes small epublication or Blanton Brochures Coordinates collections and exhibitions colleagues through completion of group housing and storage projects Assists matting and framing preparator with oversized framing and large two person projects Assists with art movement for collection photography, curatorial viewings, and other collection needs Other collections related preparator work as needed Completes archival filing and digitization as needed Coordinates and arranges for department wide supply orders, process paperwork, and disperses materials Makes travel arrangements as needed for exhibition purposes Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned Represents the museum with a high level of integrity and professionalism Adheres to museum policies supporting management decisions in a positive, professional manner, and works collaboratively with all staff Maintains confidentiality within and outside the museum Required Qualifications
B.A. degree required; 4 years experience at museum or related, gallery or publication work Experience managing production schedule for publications and/or exhibitions Experience working in a museum setting and knowledge of museum operations, policies, and standards; experience with museum-oriented thesauri Ability to use the complete Adobe Suite Preparator experience from museum or gallery Ability to assess priorities, work well under pressure; manage time efficiently, analyze and solve problems independently and if necessary, collaboratively Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with staff members, trustees, lenders, donors, and volunteers Must be able to sit for long periods of time; work is primarily sedentary, requires extensive use of computer to review and edit text and design documents Must be able to lift 35 lbs Must be able to visually inspect text, art, and visual color graphics Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Salary Range
$48,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions
Typical Office Environment Must be able to sit for long periods of time; work is primarily sedentary, requires extensive use of computer to review and edit text and design documents Must be able to lift 35 lbs Must be able to visually inspect text, art, and visual color graphics Required Materials
