Retail Lead Associate (Security)
Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia Inc.
Position Summary: Contribute to the mission of Goodwill by helping to lead a Goodwill retail location, donation site and in‑store production facility. In the absence of the store manager and assistant store manager, direct the work tasks of associates to meet store goals, document personnel issues for review with management, and conduct yourself as a role model.
Essential Duties
Run store operations in the absence of the store and assistant manager, covering front‑end and production area activities.
Monitor progress of associates relative to individual goals, including production and Round Up.
Participate in production as required to reach store goals based on business demands.
Ensure high standards of cleanliness and visual merchandise presentation are followed by all store associates at all times, and demonstrate exceptional customer service for associates to emulate.
Promote and set the example for Goodwill’s standards of exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
Assist the store management team with meaningful communication through onboarding, monthly meetings, check‑ins and appraisals.
Solicit customer and associate feedback and act on it.
Utilize management information tools such as daily sales, production reports, sales by commodity, Round Up reports and monthly variance reports to determine and measure store activity and identify trends.
Submit all closing reports, accident reports, risk training reports and Kronos documentation correctly and on time in the absence of ROM and RAM.
Communicate directly, consistently and in a timely manner with the direct supervisor and other management team members regarding problems with store operations and personnel.
Initiate opportunities to improve the store, including efficiencies, processes and people development, and act on those opportunities.
Fully participate in all meetings and learning opportunities.
Supervisory Responsibilities An associate in this position has supervisory responsibility for designated associates in their department.
Education / Experience / Certificates / Security Clearance High School Diploma or GED preferred; a combination of education and work experience will be considered. One year of experience in a leadership role is preferred. No professional certifications are required. A criminal background check must be passed. The associate is not required to drive as part of this role.

Physical Demands / Work Environment / Work Conditions Requires lifting up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Works in a moderate environment with occasional exposure to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.). Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
