Clinical Care — The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team. May practice in inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient settings, collaborate with attending physicians, and may perform autonomous team-based care. Responsibilities include obtaining histories, conducting exams, reviewing tests, formulating treatment plans, and prescribing within guidelines. May perform procedures and may assist in operative cases as allowed by scope and prerequisites. Other duties as required by department goals and regulatory guidelines. Patient Education & Psychosocial Support — Educate patients/families on care and resources; provide psychosocial support as part of a multidisciplinary team. Information Management — Ensure documentation complies with hospital and regulatory requirements and protect information across all media from unauthorized access or disclosure. Quality Management — Maintain high standards of professionalism and patient care; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards. Professional Development — Engage in projects to maintain and advance competency; may serve as a clinical resource or preceptor; participate in safety reporting and quality improvement activities; may collaborate on research and protocol development. Qualifications
Education Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or an accredited Physician Assistant program. Experience Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be credentialed with the affiliated medical staff and provide evidence of current competence, including reference letters as part of the appointment process. Licensure Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut State PA License, ACLS/BLS as indicated, and DEA license where applicable. Pediatric PALS/NRP may be required for neonatal care where indicated. Additional licenses/certifications and continuing education may be required based on position and specialty.
