Position Summary

The Director, Executive Member Engagement leads ACP’s engagement with Executive Level Members — the association’s top corporate accounts with policy and government relations teams. This role drives recruitment, retention, and strategic partnership to ensure ACP’s most influential members are fully engaged in advocacy, market intelligence, and policy initiatives that advance the industry’s priorities. Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Member Relations, the Director must demonstrate a broad set of competencies to succeed in this role. Beyond subject matter expertise, the position requires disciplined execution to manage complex initiatives, strong relationship-building to establish trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders, and the ability to effectively advocate for member needs within ACP. The Director will apply forward-looking planning and strategy, exercise leadership through cross-functional collaboration, and use sound judgment and decision-making to balance member value with organizational priorities. By leveraging these competencies, the Director ensures ACP delivers measurable value to Executive Members while contributing to the association’s long-term growth and impact. Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

Lead executive member engagement: Drive engagement for ACP’s Executive Level Membership, ensuring opportunities are strategically aligned with policy, advocacy, and market priorities that advances impact and industry leadership Retention & recruitment: Develop and execute renewal strategies that sustain a 90%+ retention rate of Executive Members, while managing a $5M+ portfolio of membership revenue and cultivating new members to expand ACP’s long-term financial strength and industry leadership Strategic partnership with SVP & Board: Partner with the SVP, Member Relations to support Board engagement, providing executive-level insights and materials that shape organizational priorities, secure member revenue, and strengthen ACP’s influence in policy and governance. Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate with ACP’s advocacy, policy, legal, and market intelligence teams so that member engagement directly supports organizational goals, strengthens advocacy outcomes, and demonstrates clear value to Executive Members. Program development: Design and implement engagement plans around major industry events (e.g., Climate Week NYC, CERA, COP) that raise ACP’s visibility, advance members’ government affairs priorities, and position the association as a thought leader. Reporting & insights: Establish and manage processes to track Executive Member participation, measure growth in engagement, and deliver timely insights on policy priorities, market trends, and outcomes that demonstrate ACP’s impact. Stakeholder relationship management: Build and sustain trusted partnerships with senior corporate and government affairs leaders, ensuring ACP’s offerings respond to member needs, reinforce long-term retention, and strengthen the association’s mission. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Ensure engagement programs reflect ACP’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering an inclusive culture that broadens participation and strengthens member value. Education, Experience & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, political science, or related field required. 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in member relations, policy, advocacy, or strategic partnerships within an association, corporate, or government setting. Demonstrated success in leading senior-level stakeholder engagement, renewals, and recruitment for high-value accounts. Strong understanding of energy policy, markets, and international trade, with ability to translate trends into member value. Proven ability to manage budgets, track performance metrics, and drive outcomes tied to organizational revenue and growth. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with ability to brief executives and influence cross-functional teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; data-driven, strategic thinker who can tackle complex challenges with sound judgment. Commitment to ACP’s values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to integrate these principles into member engagement strategies. Travel as required for ACP conferences and events (expected 5-7 times/year or approximately 15%). Job Conditions

We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Regular travel across the country for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas. This base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000.
