Overview
We are seeking a Psychiatrist/ Medical Director to join our team in Salem, OR. Be a part of our new facility and make a difference in dual diagnosis treatment. Advanced Recovery Systems is a physician-led behavioral healthcare company dedicated to evidence-based care for addiction and mental health conditions. We connect those in need to life-saving addiction treatment and mental health support that repairs lives, families and the surrounding communities. Special programming designed to meet the needs of veterans and first responders is offered in select facilities.
Responsibilities The Medical Director provides 24-hour management of the Medical and Psychiatric Services of the facility. Reporting to the Chief Medical Director, the Medical Director provides effective leadership to staff, oversees medical activities in accordance with state and federal regulations and accrediting organizations, and collaborates with facility leadership to ensure success. Core duties include:
Provide administrative oversight of the facility's medical services, leading the medical staff, dietitians, and physician services coordinator (where applicable) while collaborating with nursing and clinical departments.
Deliver high-quality medical care aligned with the ARS philosophy, including detoxification protocols, medication assessment, withdrawal management, and Medication Assisted Therapy.
Understand ASAM criteria and Medical Needs Criteria and document decisions accordingly.
Assist the COM and Executive Director in developing and maintaining objectives, policies, procedures, an organization plan, and a quality assurance program for medical services; review medical policies annually.
Plan and budget for medical services in conjunction with the CMO, Executive Director, and governing authority.
Support medical staff in achieving department metrics related to expense management, compliance, documentation quality, treatment completion, and outcomes/readmission rates.
Complete and proficiently use the electronic health record with all required documentation, ensuring compliance with policies, state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and Medical Needs Criteria.
Review off-site physical examinations and medical screening results to address medical needs in treatment plans.
Develop and implement plans for performance improvement as needed.
Manage On-Call responsibilities and be available as backup; respond within one hour of facility during on-call duties.
Other duties as assigned.

Pay: Competitive & negotiable salary starting at $350k + annual bonus
CME: $5,000 per year reimbursement

Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited medical school.
Experience in addiction medicine.
Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position.
Familiarity with Joint Commission and other healthcare standards.
Strong communication skills to relate to all levels of facility staff.
Licensed to practice medicine (MD or DO) in the applicable state.
Board Certification in Psychiatry; ABPM- Addiction Medicine preferred.
DEA and DATA 2000 Waiver in the state of work.
Ability to apply Continuous Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement methodologies.
