Overview
We are seeking a Psychiatric Medical Director to join our team! Milwaukee location coming soon February 2026. Advanced Recovery Systems is a trusted, physician‑led behavioral healthcare company dedicated to evidence‑based, expert for addiction and mental health conditions. We work with health care providers, organizations and individuals to connect those in need to life‑saving addiction treatment and mental health support that repairs lives, families and the surrounding communities. Founded in December 2013 by Dr. Mitchell Eisenberg and Dr. Lewis Gold, we now have facilities across the U.S. Every facility strives to provide the highest quality of care, using evidence‑based therapeutic models that really work. Specialized programming designed to meet the unique needs of veterans and first responders is also offered in select facilities.
Responsibilities
The Medical Director provides 24‑hour management of the medical and psychiatric services of the facility, reporting to the Chief Medical Director.
Provides effective leadership to staff, has knowledge of Advanced Recovery Systems programs and directs all medical activities within the facility in accordance with state, federal, accrediting and regulatory standards.
Provides administrative oversight of the facility’s medical services, including oversight of medical staff, dietitians, and physician services coordinator, building a collaborative team with nursing and clinical departments.
Provides excellent medical care following the ARS philosophy, including knowledge of detoxification protocols, medication assessment, withdrawal management, and Medication‑Assisted Therapy.
Understands ASAM criteria and Medical Needs Criteria, documents decision making accordingly.
Assists in development and maintenance of written objectives, policies, procedures, quality assurance program, and review of all medical policies and procedures annually.
Plans, budgets for medical services in collaboration with the CMO, Executive Director and governing authority.
Supports medical staff for success with department metrics: expense management, compliance quality, treatment stay completion, outcomes, and readmission rates.
Proficiently uses the electronic health record, ensuring compliance with company policies, state regulations, Joint Commission standards and Medical Needs Criteria.
Reviews physical examination reports and medical screening results for pre‑admissions and other medical concerns.
Implements plans for performance improvement as needed.
Communicates on‑call responsibilities, provides contact and backup numbers, and is responsive within one hour of the facility for emergencies.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited medical school.
Experience in addiction medicine.
Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position.
Familiarity with Joint Commission and other healthcare standards.
Strong communication skills at all levels of facility staff.
Licensed to practice medicine (MD or DO) in the applicable state.
Board certification in Psychiatry; ABPM‑Addiction Medicine preferred.
DEA & DATA 2000 waiver in the state of practice.
