Senior PostgreSQL Database Developer
| Healthcare Domain Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, schemas, functions, and stored procedures. Build and optimize complex SQL queries, views, triggers, and indexes for large healthcare data sets. Develop and support ETL pipelines for integrating data from healthcare systems (e.g., EDI, Facets, EHR/EMR). Analyze, tune, and troubleshoot database performance issues and optimize queries for high-volume transactions. Work closely with application developers, BI teams, and data analysts to support application and reporting needs. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with HIPAA and PHI regulations. Implement and maintain data security policies, backup/recovery procedures, and disaster recovery strategies. Participate in database architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews. Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment with cross-functional teams (QA, DevOps, Business Analysts). Prepare technical documentation, data dictionaries, and deployment scripts. Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelors/Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 10+ years of total IT experience, with 6+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL development experience. Proven experience in database design, normalization, and optimization. Strong proficiency in PL/pgSQL, functions, triggers, and query optimization techniques. Experience in ETL design and implementation using tools such as Informatica, Talend, or Python/Shell. Solid understanding of healthcare data models and workflows including claims, members, providers, and encounters. Hands-on experience working with HL7, EDI (837/835), FHIR, or CMS datasets. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, reporting, and analytics integration. Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines for database deployment. Additional Information
