Overview
Contingent upon Contract Award. Oversees a freight terminal responsible for arranging transportation for all issue transactions. Fully knowledgeable in all Government and Commercial Traffic Management functions and processes. Primary Responsibilities
Direct employees engaged in planning outbound shipping loads, scheduling movement of outbound shipments to include air, surface, small parcel, and sea in accordance with all applicable contracts, DFTS, SDDC Global Freight Management System (GFMS) applications, and completing required documentation and data entry functions to include Bills of Lading (BOLs), manifests and all other forms of transportation documentation. Plan the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials based on projected workload on a weekly or monthly basis. Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences in accordance with general work schedules, methods, and policies established by the Site Manager and/or Alternate Site Manager. Redirect workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and to accommodate daily workload fluctuations. Conduct planning of current and future work schedules, providing workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as to the scheduling of projected work. Ensure work is done properly and efficiently in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract. Use DSS and other Government Data Systems to perform the requirements in the Performance Work Statement (PWS). Supervisory Responsibilities
The Transportation Manager manages a team of Transportation Specialists. Ensures area of responsibility operates in accordance with referenced DLA Distribution SOPs, addendums, FRAGOS, and Process Manuals as required for day-to-day operational processing and preparation for any audit event. Responsible for compliance with the Audit Assertion Program reporting and documentation requirements, including monthly assertion reporting that assigned areas are ready for audit and corrective action plans are documented and implemented if an assertion cannot be made. Responsible for the Audit Assertion Program functional areas of Quality Control and Customer Service. Education And/or Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Experience shall include a minimum of three (3) years of experience in transportation using DSS or equivalent automated WMS within the past five (5) years. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
DLA experience is a plus. Must have experience drafting business correspondence and written communication. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are required. Must have experience following policies and procedures. Must be accurate and have good analytical skills. Must have the ability to organize and coordinate workload to meet deadlines. Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite products including Word, Excel, Access, and E-mail business software. Must demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team. Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and maintain strong attention to detail. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
