Tax Manager (Honolulu, HI) at Crete Professionals Alliance. Location: Downtown, Honolulu. Work Arrangement: hybrid environment; in-office work is generally required three to four days per work week. Normal Business Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Job Responsibilities
Client Engagements: Manage a diverse and complex portfolio of clients, including corporate, partnership, Not-for-Profit, and other returns; ensure engagements are handled efficiently and meet deadlines and quality standards. Client Contact And Relationship Building: Serve as primary client contact, maintain regular communication, understand client business and industry, and monitor the impact of market conditions on tax situations; keep clients informed of evolving tax laws. Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve issues during tax return preparation and tax planning; represent clients in IRS interactions, including analyzing notices and drafting responses. Technical Research And Tax Planning: Conduct technical research for complex situations, review staff research, and develop tax planning suggestions to benefit clients. Client Communication: Obtain necessary information with minimal disruption and articulate Firm services to offer appropriate solutions; foster an entrepreneurial approach to client service and referrals. Administrative And Technical: Billing and collection activities; ensure work is performed and documented per industry and office standards and engagement letters/contracts. Engagement Management: Manage tax projects and client deliverables to meet deadlines; maintain ongoing communication with the engagement leader and coordinate across service lines (including Audit and Consulting). Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in tax software, maintain broad knowledge of economic and business conditions, and develop deep expertise in federal, state, and local tax or industry-specific issues; collaborate with subject matter experts as needed. Staff Supervision And Self Development: Delegate work, supervise staff, review workpapers, provide coaching, and support formal training programs. Recruiting And Training; Career Development; Business Development: Assist with recruiting, develop training materials, participate in career development programs, and build relationships with managers and staff; identify and pursue client service opportunities and referrals. Service Offering And Client Relationships: Understand Firm services, cultivate client relationships, and participate in proposals and public speaking engagements when appropriate. Qualifications And Attributes
Industry Experience: At least 7 years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting environment, or 2 years of experience as a tax manager. Technical Expertise: Strong accounting, tax, leadership, supervisory, and coaching skills. Time Management: Excellent organization and ability to oversee concurrent responsibilities and meet deadlines. Communication: Clear verbal and written communication to convey complex information professionally and concisely. Client Relationship Management: Initiative and creativity in client service. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices. Education And Licenses
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in accounting or related program with strong accounting concentration; an advanced degree (MAcc, Master of Taxation, or Law) strongly preferred. Licenses: CPA license current and valid; Hawaii CPA licensure highly preferred. AICPA membership in good standing. Compensation And Benefits
Salary: $140,000 – $190,000; final offer based on experience and market conditions.
