Overview
Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering role at Vontier. We are seeking a leader of our Supplier Quality Engineering team responsible for defining priorities, driving performance, and improving supplier quality across production sites. This role also involves managing team performance and integrating the team with on-site and off-site partners. Key Responsibilities
Improve Supplier Quality: Develop and implement a comprehensive improvement strategy with suppliers to reduce defects in purchased materials. Manage Team Performance: Lead the team as a high-performing organization that continually improves key performance indicators using the Vontier Business System (Lean tools) as the backbone for a culture of improvement. Develop team skills in both technical and leadership areas. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other internal teams to align efforts and meet operational needs and business objectives. Risk Management: Identify potential quality risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of supply, including working with suppliers on quality and process development. Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transaction efficiency, work and process management, and shift quality error detection to a more proactive stance. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering preferred). Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years in quality or supplier quality engineering, preferably within mechanical or manufacturing industries. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical and electronic components and the processes used to manufacture them. Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to interpret complex data and make informed decisions; able to simplify complexity and communicate clearly. Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of influencing business partners or suppliers; ability to drive change in suppliers to counteract critical issues. Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners. Global Perspective: Experience working in a global environment with understanding of different cultural and business practices. Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required. Relationships
This position reports to the Director of Supply Chain, Greensboro, and collaborates with: Engineering Team: Regular interaction to understand technical specifications and requirements for parts purchased at site. Manufacturing Team: Ensure supplier quality processes align with production schedules and quality standards; collaborates with site quality, materials, and operations leaders. Quality Assurance Team: Work with QA to ensure components meet required standards and certifications, including supplier quality teams at other sites. External Relationships: Key suppliers and vendors, including supplier audits, supplier quality reviews, and quarterly business reviews. Personal Trait Profile
