The Role The Advanced Control and Emission Systems (ACES) team at General Motors is seeking a
Senior Advanced Control and Software Engineer
to support Advanced Technical Work (ATW) projects in the Electrification domain. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for innovation, demonstrating a proactive approach to identifying and implementing creative solutions that drive progress and enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, knowledge in the electrification control domain, including motor control, power electronics, and bi‑directional charging, is essential. This enthusiasm for exploring new ideas and technologies will be crucial in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and inspiring collaboration within the team.
What You’ll Do
Lead a team to execute Advanced Technical Work (ATW) projects
Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables
Develop control methods and controller software code
Develop calibrations and/or calibration methods
Perform modeling and simulation
Verify control methods/software on SIL/HIL test bench and/or developmental vehicles
Perform system verification based on stakeholder or project requirements
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering
5+ years in electrification controls and/or software
Knowledge in the electrification control domain: Motor control, power electronics and Bi‑Directional charging
Ability to work autonomously with limited direction from leadership
Proactive self‑starter with ability to learn on your own and handle multiple projects at one time
Experience in C coding for embedded software
Proficient with embedded software development tools (Git/Gerrit)
Proficient with HIL and/or SIL testing
Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink
Understanding of vehicle interface tools: Vehicle Spy, INCA
Ability to effectively communicate with leadership/decision makers
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering
8+ years of system or cross domain engineering experience
Developed HWIO software for inhouse ECUs
Understanding rapid prototyping platforms: ETAS, d-SPACE
An understanding of Global B/VIP/SDV electrical architecture
Proficient in calibration development
Experience successfully leading large ambiguous projects
Familiarity with simulation tools: GT Power Suite, Amesim
