Critical Care Sister / Charge Nurse The closing date is 04 November 2025
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Intensive Care Nurse to join our dynamic critical care team. The post holder will play a key role in providing high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients, demonstrating advanced clinical skills, sound decision-making, and effective leadership. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will ensure safe and compassionate care delivery while supporting the development of junior staff and maintaining high professional standards within the unit.
As a Band 6 nurse, you will take charge of shifts, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and act as a role model in promoting clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous professional development. Main duties of the job The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring high standards of care for all patients in Critical Care.
The post holder will be a proficient Practitioner in Critical care; the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher.
The Critical Care Unit delivers high quality, safe and holistic care to patients with complex nursing and medical needs with the support of other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
It also seeks to care for the spiritual needs of relatives and carers at times of great stress and trauma.
The post holder will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership to nursing staff within Critical Care.
The post holder will contribute to managing the nursing and material resources of Critical care in a flexible and cost effective way.
The post holder will take charge of the Intensive Care unit liaising closely with the critical care leadership team.
The post holder will Support the wider organisation.
