Basic Function Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost for Student Success provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for programs and services that advance student persistence, academic achievement, holistic development, degree completion, and successful career outcomes. As a key member of the Academic Affairs leadership team, the Associate Provost collaborates closely with faculty and campus partners to ensure that every student is supported in their academic journey, vocational discernment, and personal growth. The Associate Provost also leads the intentional exploration and development of professional Pathways, guiding both undergraduate and graduate students through an integrated array of curricular and co‑curricular programs and activities designed to connect learning with vocation and purpose. The Associate Provost works collaboratively across campus to promote inclusive excellence and ensure that all students have equitable access to resources and opportunities that support their success.

Representative Duties Strategic Leadership & Planning

Provide vision and leadership for a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate student success strategy aligned with institutional mission, equity, and student belonging.

Collaborate with deans, faculty, and campus leaders to integrate academic and co‑curricular initiatives that foster student persistence, timely degree completion, and post‑graduation success.

Use data‑informed practices to monitor persistence, retention, and graduation rates, and implement interventions to support at‑risk and underserved student populations, including first‑generation, low‑income, and international students.

Administrative Oversight

Supervise and coordinate the following areas:

Academic Advising : Ensure quality, consistency, and integration of advising services, working with faculty and professional staff across all undergraduate and graduate academic units.

Career Services : Align career exploration and professional development programs with academic and vocational Pathways.

Center for Global Engagement : Support global learning opportunities for education abroad and provide support for international students.

Disability Support Services : Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations on accessibility and accommodations, supporting equitable student access to academic programs.

Registrar : Oversee registration, degree audits, academic policies, and student records with a commitment to accuracy and service excellence.

Tutoring and Academic Support Services : Strengthen peer tutoring and other academic success programs.

Student Success Grant Programs : Provide leadership for TRIO and other federally funded initiatives (e.g., Student Support Services, McNair Scholars), ensuring compliance, resource development, and alignment with institutional goals.

Collaboration & Mission Integration

Champion inclusive practices that promote equity, belonging, and thriving for all students.

Serve as an advocate for student success in institutional planning, accreditation processes, and Board of Regents reports.

Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with local communities and industries to expand student success opportunities at both the local and regional levels.

Represent Academic Affairs on cross‑divisional committees related to student success.

Management & Resource Development

Manage budgets and personnel in assigned areas.

Pursue external funding opportunities (federal, state, private foundations) to support student success initiatives.

Utilize data to drive continuous improvement and guide strategic decisions that enhance student success.

Ensure compliance with federal regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Federal and state compliance requirements including ADA, Section 504, and FERPA.

Student success assessment metrics and data analysis for monitoring retention and persistence and to use data to support decision‑making.

Strategies for supporting diverse populations, including first‑generation, low‑income, and international students.

Campus programming and activity planning.

Budget development and personnel management in higher education.

Grant management and reporting requirements for federally funded programs.

The mission and values of a faith‑based institution, including holistic student development and vocational discernment.

Ability To

Provide visionary leadership across multiple student success areas.

Build and foster relationships with stakeholders on campus to facilitate our student success agenda.

Develop, prepare and manage assigned budgets.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.

Effectively utilize modern office applications, data management systems, and reporting tools to support decision‑making and daily operations.

Advise senior management and governing board.

Gather, assemble, analyze, and evaluate facts, evidence, data and other information in order to draw reasonable and fair conclusions and make sound decisions.

Advance initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Use tact, patience and courtesy in interpersonal communication.

Communicate, collaborate, and use problem‑solving skills.

Manage multiple priorities in a mission‑driven environment and changing business conditions.

Develop and implement policies that align with best practices in student success and regulatory compliance.

Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of a faith‑based university, including holistic student development and vocational discernment.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.

Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

Maintain a high level of confidentiality, objectivity and fairness.

Exercise independent judgment and utilize diplomacy in handling sensitive matters.

Minimum Qualifications Any combination equivalent to a Masters degree in Education, Counseling, Student Personnel Services, Psychology or any related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in higher education, including at least five years of supervisory leadership. Demonstrated experience overseeing student support functions such as academic advising, career services, disability services, registrar, or federally funded student success programs and a strong understanding of student retention, persistence, and completion strategies, especially for first‑generation, low‑income, and underserved student populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in higher education leadership/administration from an accredited institution.

Experience leading TRIO or similar federally funded student success programs.

Evidence of successful grant writing or external funding acquisition.

Licenses and Other Requirements None

Physical Abilities Detect to understand appropriate written correspondence; communicate clearly to exchange information in person and on the telephone; operate a computer and other office productivity machinery; stationary position for extended periods of time; move or transport light objects; position self to store and/or retrieve files.

Working Environment Office environment; constant interruptions; weekend and evening time commitments.

Hiring Range $140,000 - $160,000
