Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy Services, the Director of Planned Giving cultivates philanthropic relationships with an emphasis on opportunities for legacy and planned gifts. Identify, develop, and cultivate strategic philanthropic relationships with an emphasis on planned and/or legacy giving strategies and techniques. Manage a portfolio of 150-200 donors interested in utilizing the Foundation for their current and future charitable giving. Engage and implement the Foundation’s strategies for building strong relationships with professional advisors in the community, to include general education, outreach and referral recruitment. Remain up to date on changing tax laws and regulations that impact the field. As a member of the Philanthropy Services team, serve as a front-line fundraiser by detailing gift planning options, creating proposals, drafting fund agreements, accurately documenting information in CRM, and collaborating with the finance team on matters pertaining to past, present and future planned gifts. As a member of the Philanthropy Services team, design and implement various donor education activities and develop materials and public presentations for donors and their advisors. As a member of the Philanthropy Services team, maintain awareness of community needs, priorities and trends to inform donors of initiatives and other grantmaking opportunities that are consistent with and further the Foundation’s priorities and/or the needs of the community. Represent the Foundation at events and engagement opportunities. Work with the Vice President of Philanthropy Services to implement a comprehensive giving program for family and corporate foundations. Engage and implement fundraising strategies for all annual giving campaigns and programs, to include Give to Lincoln Day match sponsorships and Lincoln Littles lead donors and the Garden Performance Series. Core Competency Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in the legal, accounting, finance, or fundraising fields required. Knowledge of planned giving and/or involvement in the Lincoln community preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand complex issues and challenges, be a creative problem solver and communicator, and have superb analytical skills. This person must function well in a team setting, as well as independently.
