Position in the Department of Land & Natural Resources. Duties include developing and/or conducting informational and educational programs to preserve and enhance aquatic resources in accordance with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service guidelines. Responsibilities cover presenting information to sport fishing and community groups and individuals about aquatic life, Hawaii’s fishing rules, conservation ethics, recreational fishing methods, and fishing safety. The role may involve assisting Aquatic Biologists with resource surveys and serving as a liaison between the State’s aquatic resources programs and the public. Responsibilities

Develop, conduct, and present educational programs and activities related to aquatic resources. Educate audiences on aquatic life forms, identification, habitat, and biological requirements. Explain Hawaii fishing rules and regulations, conservation ethics, responsible use of resources, and safe recreational fishing methods. Assist Aquatic Biologists with aquatic resource surveys and liaison activities between programs and the public. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements

Legal Authorization To Work:

Must be eligible for unrestricted employment in the United States. Basic Education:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Education/Training Experience:

ONE (1) YEAR

of progressively responsible professional work experience in education or instructional roles, involving development of education/training methods and the ability to instruct and communicate effectively to groups. Specialized Experience:

SIX (6) MONTHS

of work experience in aquatic resource management and conservation principles and practices. May be paid or volunteer and can be gained concurrently or separately with Education/Training Experience. Special Requirements:

Demonstrated knowledge of recreational and commercial fish species in Hawaii and the Pacific, fishing methods/gear, and Hawaii state fishing rules and regulations. Substitutions Allowed:
