Salary: $4,961 to $6,043 per month (SR-20, Step D to I)

Responsibilities
Develop and conduct informational and educational programs and activities for preserving and enhancing aquatic resources in accordance with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service guidelines.
Conduct aquatic resources informational and educational activities, including preparing and presenting information to various sport fishing and community groups, and individuals of all ages.
Teach about aquatic life forms in Hawaii, identification methods, biological requirements, habitat characteristics, Hawaii’s fishing rules and regulations, conservation ethics, effective recreational fishing methods, and fishing safety practices.
Assist Aquatic Biologists in the conduct of aquatic resource surveys.
Serve as liaison between the State’s aquatic resources programs and the public.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Legal Authorization to Work: U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
Education/Training Experience: One year of progressively responsible professional work experience in program of training or education as an instructor, or other comparable professional position, including knowledge of basic education or training methods, need identification, and effective communication.
Specialized Experience: Six months of work experience demonstrating knowledge of aquatic resource management and conservation principles and practices.
Special Requirements: Knowledge of important recreational and commercial fish species of the State of Hawaii and the Pacific area, fishing methods and types of fishing gear, and Hawaii State fishing rules and regulations.
License: Valid driver’s license at time of appointment.
