Responsibilities
Provide technical support and documentation design, development, and evaluation of the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, including power supply and propulsion systems.
Research and develop ship propulsion systems, including diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems; apply to applicable design and requirements.
Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
Design, develop, and evaluate operation of marine vessels and shipboard propulsion machinery.
Review and develop technical data packages.
Provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements.
Conduct and oversee trade studies.
Provide knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
6+ years of experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components.
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
Pay Transparency Statement AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $91,600.00/Yr. - USD $153,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
