The Head of Admissions & Enrollment is a critical position at Sanderling Waldorf School, overseeing all aspects of student recruitment, admissions, and retention efforts in collaboration with the Faculty and Administrative team. This key leadership role presents an exciting opportunity to bring a data-driven sales discipline to grow awareness of the school, while maintaining and enhancing our reputation forged through word-of-mouth and community initiatives.
The Head of Admissions & Enrollment is responsible for developing and implementing enrollment strategies and overseeing the admissions process, while fostering a positive student and family experience. The overall goal is to attract and retain students and families at Sanderling.
Sanderling provides unique and compelling education for children PreK through 8th grade, all based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. In addition to an excellent core curriculum in Humanities, Sanderling students enjoy a robust language program (German and Spanish), arts (Strings, Handwork), and unique experiential opportunities to learn math, science, and about the physical world.
This is a 12-month, full-time position. Benefits include medical, dental, health insurance, retirement, and flexible spending.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and execute long-term, data-driven strategic enrollment and retention plans through a goal-oriented, data-informed marketing and communications culture
Oversee all marketing and communication channels (e.g., website, emails, and social media); forecast performance trends and act proactively to increase retention and enrollment
Design and refine annual family recruitment campaigns across a variety of touchpoints including events, digital marketing, community outreach, and more
Lead implementation of a community surveying program with the aim of improving family communications, marketing tactics, and other enrollment/re-enrollment activities
Represent Sanderling to the greater community at outside events and meetings; recruit and coordinate volunteers for these events
Establish relationships with other area schools that are mission-aligned with the Waldorf philosophy
Ensure collaboration among faculty, staff, and parent volunteers to advance retention and enrollment goals
Schedule, organize, and lead regular school tours; accommodate families and visitors with private tours as needed; coordinate Open House events
Translate the benefits and strengths of a Waldorf education into accessible language for prospective and current parents unfamiliar with the philosophy
Coordinate the timely processing of the Tuition Assistance program and guide families through the application steps
Participate in school-wide events, festivals, and activities as appropriate
Assess new applicants, follow up on incomplete applications, and collaborate with faculty and staff in the review and admissions decision-making process
Contribute to the development of the annual marketing budget; maintain data analysis on all aspects of enrollment, re-enrollment, and retention, including market trends
Provide regular reports and analysis of enrollment and marketing data to the Finance Committee, Board of Directors, and Administrative Team
Track and acknowledge receipt of all gifts and donations to the school
Develop operational knowledge of the school’s CRM, contracting, marketing, tuition management, and communication systems to support retention and enrollment
Collaborate with the Administrative Director to review and enhance enrollment/re-enrollment policies and ensure a welcoming and inclusive school environment
Required Skills & Capacities The successful candidate will possess the following background and abilities:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of five years’ experience in sales, marketing, communications, or related field (experience in an independent school or admissions office preferred)
Entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for new ideas and initiatives
Willingness to redesign processes in an organization transitioning to a data-informed culture
Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing successful digital marketing campaigns
Strong understanding of online marketing tools and best practices
Proven ability to track and analyze performance data to inform strategy
Basic knowledge of web design best practices
Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Leadership qualities with the ability to organize and motivate people
Strong capacity for collaborative work with colleagues and parent community
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to resolve conflict and create warm connections
Confidence in public speaking, both in small and large group settings
High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to travel locally for admissions and enrollment events
Hours & Work Conditions This is a full-time, hourly position. Standard work hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with occasional evening and weekend commitments required.
This is not a remote position.
