About Our School The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) offers Pre-K through 12th grade Waldorf education across two campuses in the heart of an innovative city and beautiful landscape. Founded in 1981, WSSD has been serving San Diego and the greater community for nearly 45 years. We have families coming from as far as Oceanside to the north, Tijuana to the south, and the rural community of Alpine to the east.
At WSSD, our educational approach acknowledges the fundamental idea that children exhibit distinct learning patterns at different developmental stages. We instruct in manners that resonate deeply with the evolving needs of the growing individual, and the curriculum nurtures the innate capabilities of our students. The foundation and focus of our work is the development of the whole human being. This is guided by our understanding of human development as elaborated by Rudolf Steiner. The pace, priorities, and practices of our full curriculum, Early Childhood through High School, grow out of this foundation.
We are seeking an Admissions Manager who embodies warmth, clarity, and a genuine love for working with families. This individual will serve as a welcoming presence, guiding families through the journey of discovering Waldorf education and helping them find a home within our community.
Position Overview The Admissions Manager holds a key role in shaping the future of our school. As the first point of contact for many families, this person serves as both storyteller and steward—communicating the heart of Waldorf education while supporting families as they explore the unique rhythm, developmental approach, and community life at the Waldorf School of San Diego.
This work blends relationship-building, administrative leadership, and thoughtful discernment as we seek to enroll students and families who will thrive within our mission and values.
Key Responsibilities Welcoming & Guiding Families
Serve as a warm, knowledgeable ambassador of Waldorf education and our school’s mission.
Meet prospective families, offering tours, conversations, and insights that help them experience the living quality of our curriculum and community.
Support families throughout the admissions journey with clarity, care, and responsiveness.
Admissions Leadership & Enrollment Stewardship
Lead and manage all aspects of the admissions cycle, from first inquiry to enrollment.
Develop and implement a comprehensive admissions strategy that supports healthy enrollment and long‑term sustainability.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure the admissions process reflects an understanding of child development and the needs of the whole child.
Maintain accurate enrollment data and provide insights that help guide long‑term planning.
Community Outreach
Develop and implement strategic outreach initiatives to attract mission‑aligned families.
Plan and host admissions events, open houses, and community gatherings that reflect the artistry, warmth, and intentionality of Waldorf education.
Work with colleagues to convey the school’s mission, pedagogy, and community life with authenticity and beauty across print and digital platforms.
Build and maintain relationships with local preschools, early childhood programs, elementary schools, nearby Waldorf and Waldorf‑in schools, and community partners.
Support of School Life
Collaborate with faculty, administration, and parent groups to support new family onboarding and foster a sense of belonging.
Participate in school festivals, community events, and other moments that reflect the spirit and seasonal rhythms of Waldorf education.
Uphold practices of equity, inclusion, and respect in every aspect of admissions work.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree
3–5+ years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, or related fields
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect authentically with a wide range of people
Clear written and verbal communication
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with care and attention to detail
Preferred:
