ECS is seeking a
Database Administrator
to work in our
Quantico, VA
office. The position is for a Senior Database Administrator to support a strategic DOJ FBI client program, focusing on enhancing enterprise services and solutions through evaluation, integration, design, implementation, and operational maintenance.
This position is located in Quantico, VA.
Responsibilities
Administer, troubleshoot, and maintain databases.
Manage and monitor the performance and maintenance of on‑premises SQL databases.
Manage and monitor Windows Server failover clusters.
When required, manage and monitor the performance of cloud-based databases (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS).
Support the deployment of new databases and schema objects in both on‑premises and cloud environments.
Monitor and maintain databases to ensure stability and optimal performance.
Manage backups, restores, and replication processes; ensure regular backups and security.
Ensure databases adhere to security standards and industry best practices.
Provide support for database-related issues and user requests; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Analyze and optimize database performance; generate reports on performance, utilization, and growth.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure high availability and performance.
Plan and implement database activities including upgrades and patching.
Required Skills
Active Top-Secret clearance.
Minimum of 8 years of experience (or equivalent demonstrated by certifications or past work).
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an additional 3 years of experience.
Strong understanding of database architecture and design.
Knowledge of database security and access controls.
Advanced knowledge of SQL and database query languages.
Expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and query optimization.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience monitoring, updating, upgrading, testing, and preventive maintenance for database platforms.
Desired Skills
Prior federal government experience supporting scientific organizations or law enforcement communities.
Experience in assessing, evaluating, and migrating on‑premises databases to a cloud environment.
Experience documenting client environment, infrastructure, and operations.
Experience with data warehousing and analytics capabilities and solutions.
