Database Administrator position at
ECS
in Quantico, VA. The Senior Database Administrator will support a federal program for a DOJ FBI client, administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining databases with on‑premises SQL and Postgres, and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS. Responsibilities
Manage and monitor the performance and maintenance of on‑premises SQL databases Manage and monitor Windows server failover clusters When required, manage and monitor the performance of cloud‑based databases such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS Support the deployment of new databases and schema objects in the on‑premises and cloud environments Monitor and maintain databases to ensure stability and optimal performance Manage databases for backup, restore, and replication processes Ensure all databases are regularly backed up and secure from unauthorized access Ensure that databases are secure and adhere to industry standards Provide support for database related issues and other requests from users Troubleshoot database issues and take corrective measures to resolve them Analyze and troubleshoot database issues and take necessary actions to resolve them Monitor and optimize database performance Generate reports to measure database performance, utilization, and growth Collaborate with other departments to ensure high availability and performance Plan and implement database activities including upgrades and patching Required Skills
US citizenship with active Top‑Secret clearance Minimum of 8 years’ experience recommended. In absence of years of experience, certifications or past work may be used to show the level of experience needed to perform at this level. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or additional 3 years of experience Strong understanding of database architecture and design Knowledge of database security and access controls Advanced knowledge of SQL and database query languages Expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and query optimization Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience monitoring, performing updates, upgrades, testing, and other associated preventative maintenance and support functions related to database platforms Desired Skills
Prior federal government experience supporting scientific organizations or law enforcement communities Experience in assessment, evaluation, and migration of on‑premises databases to a cloud environment Experience in assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, process, operations Experience with Data Warehousing and Analytic capabilities and solutions Equal Opportunity
