Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Structural Engineer to join its design team. AWS designs, builds, and operates Data Centers around the world and is a leader in worldwide cloud-computing infrastructure. Engineers in AWS work to design resilient, cost effective DC facilities with world-class uptime for customers, emphasizing security, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness while meeting growing demand. As a DC Structural Engineer at AWS, you will be part of the design team for Amazon data centers in the Americas Region and impact projects globally. You will work with Architects, Engineers, and Designers to solve problems and challenge the status quo. You will provide technical guidance, review milestone drawings by consultants, solve large-scale implementation issues, and be responsible for structural design requirements. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access to the cloud. You will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals and contribute to safety, security, and cost-efficiency while delivering innovative solutions. Responsibilities
Be part of the design team for Amazon data centers in the Americas Region and influence projects worldwide. Provide technical guidance to team members and review milestone drawings by consultants. Solve large-scale implementation issues and ensure compliance with structural design requirements. Design resilient, cost-effective DC facilities with emphasis on safety, security, efficiency, and uptime. Collaborate with Architects, Engineers, and Designers to develop prototypical DC facilities. Qualifications
ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering 7+ years of experience in structural design for industrial or commercial projects 5+ years of experience with design of large-scale buildings such as data centers, mission-critical facilities, hospitals, schools, or highly complex commercial towers Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. SE Engineering license. Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of data centers; proficiency in building codes and standards including IBC and ASCE. Solid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, MS Office, and related structural engineering tools; knowledge of tilt-up and precast concrete, structural steel systems, seismic design, wind and snow loading, and forensic analysis. Experience in value engineering for structural systems and design/review of auxiliary framing, cable tray, conduit, and ductwork supports. Ability to evaluate constructability of new technologies, perform business case analysis, and identify cost-reducing, high-quality, reliable solutions during construction. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
