Overview

Leopardo Construction is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team in Cleveland. This role provides exposure to all facets of the construction industry in a fast-paced environment and offers a path to advancement in estimating, project management, or field operations. Salary information:

Base pay range is $70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr. The actual pay will be based on skills and experience. This position may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Note: This description contains the responsibilities, qualifications, and benefits typically associated with the role and is intended for recruitment purposes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management Support:

Assist project management staff with overseeing goals related to scheduling, budgeting, and implementation; participate in the conceptual development of construction projects; monitor and support coordination and communication among stakeholders. Monitor and achieve project goals including overhead, profit, general conditions, self-performed trades, client satisfaction, and project cost maintenance. Track the master construction schedule, update critical dates, and coordinate with Owner, Architect, Consultants, Contractor, Subcontractors, and suppliers. Obtain permits, insurance, and bonds; review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs; maintain logs per requirements. Coordinate pre‑construction, weekly, and post‑construction meetings; prepare meeting minutes and track action items; monitor MBE / WBE compliance as required. Negotiate with and procure subcontractors and suppliers; generate subcontracts and purchase orders; review monthly applications for payment; ensure BIM, LEED, and Design/Build language as needed. Maintain project documentation for BIM and conduct model mediation / clash detection; manage subcontractor progress and change orders; prepare closeout documentation including as-built drawings and O&M manuals. Ensure proper filing and archiving systems. Estimating Support:

Assist estimating staff with developing bid strategies, budgets, and take-offs; review bid documents and prepare RFIs; participate in jobsite walkthroughs and preconstruction turnover. Develop quantity take-offs, analyze subcontractor bids, and prepare owner budgets; participate in client presentations when required. Field Operations Support:

Assist field operations to achieve project goals on schedule and quality; coordinate material procurement and look-ahead scheduling; maintain daily logs and participate in subcontractor meetings. Support safety plans and EH&S initiatives; perform site walkthroughs, audits, inspections, and daily logs. Assist with field quality control plans, review plans and specs, and maintain on-site construction documents; support LEED coordination and final inspections. Assist with self‑perform trades management and budget tracking; generate punch lists and assign responsibilities for completion. Maintain hiring records, payroll certifications, and client communications as required. Education / Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or related fields, or equivalent training and related experience. Prior experience as a Project Engineer or intern preferred; field and/or estimating experience is a plus. Understanding of basic construction technologies including scheduling software, financial comprehension, and blueprint reading; familiarity with Viewpoint or similar software is a plus.
