Project Engineer – Aviation Team, Leopardo Construction Leopardo Construction is looking for a Project Engineer to join our growing Aviation team! The Project Engineer role is ideal for candidates looking to learn and build their career in a fast‑paced environment. Project Engineers have the opportunity to work on exciting projects while gaining exposure to all facets of the construction industry.

Summary:

As a member of the project management team, the Project Engineer is responsible for assisting and supporting estimating, project management and field operations departments in planning, directing and coordinating designated project activities to ensure all goals and objectives are met. The role will learn all facets of the construction process to allow progression to estimator, project manager or superintendent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management Support:

Assist project management staff in achieving goals, including overhead, profit, general condition, self‑performed trades, and client satisfaction.

Monitor the master construction schedule using Asta, track critical dates and provide updates.

Obtain permits, insurance and bonds.

Review and process submittals, shop drawings and RFIs; follow up with architect/subcontractor to expedite approvals.

Coordinate pre‑, weekly and post construction meetings; prepare minutes; track open items and compliance monitoring.

Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers; generate subcontracts, purchase orders and track payments.

Generate and maintain BIM documentation; conduct model mediation/clash detection.

Review LEED construction deliverables for LEED projects.

Verify, price and prepare change order documentation.

Compile closeout documentation – as‑built drawings, warranties, O&M manuals.

Maintain filing and archiving systems.

Estimating Support:

Assist estimating staff in developing bid strategies and accurate budgets.

Review bid documents; create quantity take‑offs using On Screen; develop RFIs.

Conduct jobsite walkthroughs to verify field conditions.

Develop list of qualified subcontract bidders; communicate for coverage.

Receive and analyze subcontractor bids using bid day form.

Prepare owner budget proposal after cost‑saving alternatives and value engineering.

Participate in client presentations as required.

Participate in preconstruction job turnover process.

Field Operations Support:

Procure materials and maintain a two‑week look‑ahead schedule aligned with the master schedule.

Initiate project safety plan and monitor EH&S initiatives; walk the jobsite daily.

Implement QC plan, review specs, maintain construction documents; ensure timely inspections and tests.

Manage self‑performed trades and monitor budgeted vs. actual cost.

Generate punch list, assign responsibilities and follow up for completion.

Record project hiring requirements and payroll certifications.

Interact with clients, owner’s representatives and end users.

Education / Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture or a related field; or equivalent training and experience.

Prior industry experience as a Project Engineer or Intern preferred; field and/or estimating experience is a plus.

Understanding of basic construction technologies such as scheduling software, financial comprehension and digital model navigation; ability to read blueprints.

Awareness of project management and accounting software; Viewpoint is a plus.

Salary range: $70,000 – $80,000. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Leopardo does not discriminate based on any protected category with respect to wages.
