Lead Certified Veterinary Technician
to join our team. We are a thriving 4-doctor veterinary clinic with a passionate team that’s excited to learn, grow, and support each other every day. Pay Range:
$28.00 - $32.00 / hr
(based on experience).
$1,500 signing bonus!

1556 S. Michigan Avenue, Suite 100, Chicago IL 60605 . Clinic Hours Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 7:00pm Saturday: 8:00am – 6:00pm Sunday: Closed Shift Details : This is a full-time position (40 hours/week). Shifts are Monday through Friday (times may vary). What We Offer

The Lead Certified Veterinary Technician (Lead CVT) trains, supervises, and assists veterinary support staff to plan, coordinate, and perform a variety of duties concerned with animal health and client education, and to promote greater efficiency by relieving veterinarians of technical work and administrative detail. This position also encompasses all the duties of the Veterinary Technician. Responsibilities
Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP. Perform all functions related to Licensed Veterinary Technician job description. Work alongside the Inventory Manager to purchase pharmaceutical supplies and medications, including maintenance of controlled substances and surgery logs. Maintain inventory and maintenance of pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies. Maintain knowledge of preventative healthcare recommendations to answer client questions, provide education on vaccines, flea and heartworm products, and assist in marketing veterinary services from which their pet would benefit (e.g., dental cleaning, senior wellness, spay/neuter, boarding). Educate clients and team members on products and medications sold, including dietary products, and answer questions regarding product purchase/use. Assist in all aspects of hospital operations (e.g., answering phones, scheduling appointments, client callbacks, prescription requests). Ensure hospital compliance with federal/state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA, Radiation, state board requirements and DEA; oversee dosimetry badge ordering, tracking, and storage. Follow and enforce hospital policies set forth by the Practice Manager and Medical Lead. Train and assist veterinary support staff in technical and client education duties to facilitate veterinarians, groomers, and other team members who provide patient care. Advise the Practice Manager on personnel matters and provide follow-up feedback to supervisors to coach team members as needed. Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, set performance standards, monitor performance, mediate interpersonal problems, and address concerns from Technicians and veterinary staff. Conduct monthly departmental meetings and schedule in-service meetings as needed. Manage and contribute to the overall flow of the clinic. Create technical schedules that align with doctor, team, surgery, and outpatient needs while monitoring overtime and payroll costs; arrange coverage as needed. Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner with clients, even when stressed or focused on tasks. Patience and composure in stressful situations; ability to handle a fast-paced environment. Genuine interest in working with animals; able to handle stressed, ill, or in-pain patients. Remain calm and efficient during medical crises. Ability to administer SQ, IM, and IV injections; knowledge of drug usage, dosage, and common side-effects; ability to explain to clients. Knowledge of anesthesia and recovery states; alert veterinarians when symptoms change or concerns arise with hospitalized patients. Knowledge of heartworm and external parasite preventives to educate clients and support sales. Ability to extubate, monitor temperature, and recover patients from anesthesia. Proficiency with practice management software and general computer skills (Word, iOS, Windows, email). Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to meet deadlines and exceed expectations. Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities; ability to guide a team and address conflicts or performance issues. Knowledge of client needs assessment, service quality standards, and client satisfaction evaluation. Ability to work independently and take direction on assignments; perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when maintenance is needed. Knowledge of procedures for receiving, treating, scheduling patients, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
