Overview
The Electrical Controls and Commissioning Engineer is part of a cross-discipline project team, responsible for the successful and on-time completion of conveyor upgrade and system integration projects. You will be responsible for the successful execution of all tasks related to electrical and controls engineering on a project. Position summary:
The Electrical Controls and Commissioning Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, creation, testing, and commissioning of PLC and HMI/SCADA programs used to control conveyor systems and related equipment within the Material Handling Industry (including Freight/Parcel, Baggage Handling, Warehouse Distribution, and Manufacturing). Key Responsibilities
Assist in initial code development while adhering to established in-house programming standards Ensure compliance with customer specifications for system control and monitoring Develop detailed system documentation outlining all system functionalities, such as Description of Operations or Functional Design Documents Conduct comprehensive system testing, fill out field-testing documentation, and perform commissioning and start-up activities Collaborate on programming and field commissioning tasks to deliver reliable, efficient control solutions Redline tracking and prepare as-built submittals for final documentation Required Experience
Proficiency with Rockwell Automation platforms (RsLogix, Studio 5000, etc) Strong knowledge of Ethernet/IP communications, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and other industrial control networks Hands-on experience with FactoryTalk View SE and ME software; familiarity with additional platforms/applications is a plus Solid background in HMI development and integration Tasks
Confer with project managers, customers, and others to discuss and understand project specifications, scope and design requirements Prepare detailed and complete PLC programs that are fully annotated, and comply with the system design drawings required to implement the project scope as per project specifications and ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements Fully test and document testing procedures for all programs and software developed that comply with customer and in-house testing documentation requirements. Fill all commissioning documents for L1 (I/O Checks) and L2 (Functionality Testing) Field commissioning and testing of assigned projects working within a team to deploy and turn-over completed, tested systems to customers Travel to job sites as required for commissioning and start-up activities for assigned projects. Participate in customer training and instruction sessions. Travel percentage: 65%–75% Skills
