Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by modeling our values and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. The DSP works across the district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps and support the pharmacy teams under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). Responsibilities
Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC); oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and guiding the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same; collaborate with the patient’s total healthcare team and proactively resolve insurance and/or medication issues Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize Support effective management of pharmacy inventory with a focus on protecting cold chain products Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs; seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing services where permissible); empower the pharmacy team to provide holistic care Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies; protect patient privacy and maintain a safe and inclusive workplace Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list Essential Functions
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks; pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs; verify prescription information and labeling for patient safety Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively help people in a friendly manner; notice and respond to patients’ reactions Communication Skills: understand and use verbal and written communication; practice active listening Mathematical Reasoning: calculate totals, days’ supply, and bottle quantities for prescriptions Problem Resolution: handle challenging patient or colleague interactions effectively Physical Demands: be mobile, lift, reach, and handle items; perform repetitive finger tasks; visual acuity for reading and computer tasks Fine motor and strength requirements including occasional lifting up to 20 lbs Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager Preferred Qualifications
