Applications Engineer

serves as a crucial link between sales managers/customers and the Product Development Engineering (PDE) team. You will play a critical role in accelerating sales, supporting the sales team, and driving thought leadership in collaboration with marketing. You will manage leads from initial receipt through prospecting, qualification, and hand-off to Product Development Engineers for needs analysis. Additionally, you will provide technical support to gather product requirements and ensure customer success in alignment with Porex’s mission of innovation and high-performance porous solutions. Responsibilities

Sales Acceleration

Assess project feasibility and strategic alignment through Lead, Prospecting, and Qualification sales stages; Collaborating with the Sales Manager in qualifying incoming opportunities. Leverage broad Porex material knowledge to proactively identify and pursue expansion opportunities within the existing client base, driving sales growth. Nurture leads and prospects to create warm opportunities for sales to engage with Organize and actively participate in Customer Innovation Days to drive collaborative ideation and uncover new business opportunities. Sales Support

Engage as the technical lead in early stage customer interactions, ensuring that product development aligns with market needs and customer specifications. Foster relationships with key accounts, providing technical guidance and support to Sales Managers and the Product Development team. Collaborate with Sales Managers to match customer needs with existing products or initiate custom product developments. Represent the company as a technical resource at customer sites, tradeshows, and conferences, demonstrating a commitment to customer engagement and market expansion. Develop Product Requirements for custom development projects to guide development work done by PDE Thought Leadership

Develop a curated database of applications and product solutions to establish Porex as the preferred expert in custom product development and to facilitate knowledge sharing within the company. Bridge customer feedback with R&D initiatives by conveying market needs to the Product Development Engineering and R&D teams, ensuring a continuous flow of innovative product offerings. Collaborate with Marketing to craft targeted sales materials that highlight our product line\'s unique benefits, directly supporting and empowering the sales team\'s efforts. Identify and define essential testing protocols and regulatory requirements to streamline product development for specialty markets. Collaborate with Marketing team to interpret voice of customer and identify potential growth markets. Provide expertise to market by attending trade shows, delivering webinars, writing technical white papers, and delivering technical talks Qualifications

Education Bachelor’s degree with focus on Engineering, Material Science, or related fields. Preference for Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science Experience 3 to 5 years experience in Product Development or R&D preferred; Significant experience with cross-functional interaction with product development, sales, marketing and our customers.
