Network Engineer - Onsite - Evening/Night Shift - NYC/NJ. Onsite role in NYC from 4PM to 12 AM. This position is for LincolnIT. The description below reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for a Network Engineer with hands-on experience in enterprise networking. Responsibilities

Provide hands-on network engineering work on site (evening/night shift) in NYC/NJ. Configure, troubleshoot, and verify routing and switching in Cisco environments; support Layer 1–3 concepts, VLANs, spanning tree, IP routing, and related verification commands. Install, rack, stack, and upgrade Cisco switches; manage firmware upgrades and use TFTP/FTP tools as needed. Configure Cisco switches via CLI (console/SSH) and manage power and cabling in rack environments. Work with Power over Ethernet (PoE) and verify device power budgets across switches. Manage Layer 2 concepts (VLANs, STP, CDP/LLDP) and Layer 3 concepts (RIP/IPv4/ARPs, access-control lists, SVI, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP). Understand first-hop redundancy protocols and IPv4 addressing/subnetting; perform troubleshooting and verification using appropriate show commands. Manage fiber and copper plant installations (patch cords, terminations, cabling, testing) and fiber transceivers (SFP/SFP+/QSFP) and related wavelength types. Install and manage patch cords, PDU units, UPS units, and console servers as part of the infrastructure. Required Skills

Hands-on experience with routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP; capable of configuring, troubleshooting, and using show commands. Racking and stacking Cisco 2900, 3700, 3600, 3800, 4500, 6500 series switches. Upgrading firmware on Cisco switches; experience with TFTP/FTP and related tools. CLI-based configuration of Cisco switches via console/SSH. Working knowledge of Cisco Catalyst linecards; multi-gig copper and fiber cards, supervisors. Deep understanding of Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 concepts, including verification commands and troubleshooting techniques. Understanding of PoE power budgets and verification on switches. Experience with fiber/copper plant management and modular rack setups; knowledge of PDU and UPS integration. Knowledge of DNS and DHCP fundamentals including host records, reverse lookups, CNAMEs, and static IP addressing. Familiarity with Cisco fiber transceiver types (SFP, SFP28, QSFP) and various wavelengths (e.g., 850nm, 1310nm, SX/LX/SR/LR/LR4). Hands-on Experience (Plus)

Cisco Catalyst 6800, 9300, 9400, 9500 series switches. Arista EOS 7280, 7504 series switches. Spine-leaf architecture and VxLAN concepts (VNIs, VTEPs, EVPN host routes). Redistribution of routing protocols (EIGRP to BGP). CCNA certification or equivalent experience. Company Overview
