Job Summary Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Simulation Systems Administrator for MAGTF Tactical Warfighting Simulation (MTWS), Joint Deployment Logistics Model (JDLM), and the ACE-IOS environment. The role requires strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, and in-depth knowledge of the Government’s systems hardware and software. The Administrator studies program operating instructions to determine equipment setup and operations, continuously observes operation of assigned applications and storage devices to monitor system operation and determine hardware or software failure. The position manipulates systems in accordance with standard procedures to continue operations when components malfunction. The incumbent consults with software systems engineering or applications programming personnel for instruction changes as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining operating records and ensuring system availability and reliability of MSTP simulation systems on the networks. The administrator reports to the MSTP Exercise Section Head.
Responsibilities See above; primary duties include configuring and maintaining simulation system hardware/software, monitoring system operation, coordinating with engineering and applications teams, and ensuring system availability and reliability for MTWS, JDLM, and ACE-IOS within the MSTP environment.
Required Skills/Qualifications
IAT Level II
Install and configure operating system software, patches, and upgrades for various simulation system servers and clients; analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues
Experience with both Windows and Red Hat operating systems
Maintain simulation servers and clients, ensuring functionality of the systems and external links
Configuring, optimizing, fine-tuning, and monitoring operating system software and hardware
Performing system backups and recovery
Conducting server builds
Establishes complex operational databases, software configuration control and systems
Sets up interfaces and federations with other simulation systems and/or C2 systems
Maintains file servers, network access; documents, analyzes, and troubleshoots systems anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance
Educational Requirements: BA/BS or equivalent. Candidates may substitute substantial, relevant experience for education for this position
Certification Requirements: DoD 8140.01 IAT II; SEC+
Desired Skills/Qualifications
A minimum of 2-4 years of related experience
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
Understanding of Operations and technologies; awareness of industry developments and Government regulations
Make recommendations for enhancing services; research operational issues and provide mitigation recommendations
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; good judgment and self-motivation
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook
Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and evaluate new technologies
Working knowledge of network and information exchange technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, RESTful, SOAP and HTTP)

10-25%, mainly to Camp Pendleton, CA; Camp Lejeune, NC; Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan
