As an SQA engineer, your primary focus will be on test execution and formulation of testing plans for Lottery draw games like Powerball®, as well as scratch‑off tickets, point of sale devices, and the related promotional and gaming applications. Working with a diverse team of Software Engineers, QA Managers, and product owners, you will create and maintain test plans and use them to ensure the highest level of quality. Taking direction from the Site Operations Manager, you will assist in defect analysis to understand issues and root causes, as well as help support all software released into the production environment. Mentoring and training will be provided by an on‑site senior SQA engineer.
Responsibilities
Perform system testing activities. Generate test documentation and execute tests to verify that the system performs as required. Work independently.
Develop test documentation, perform system testing, and secure, organize, and maintain the test environment.
Record, report, and track defects to accurately depict the status of the system.
Write and record local Requests for Software Services (RFSS) and Testing Incident Reports (TIR).
Help define and review Software Specifications and assist local staff in operations procedure development.
Handle most testing activities independently, seeking guidance if needed. Site‑specific QA testing for the Nebraska Lottery. Limited interface with Software Development teams in other Brightstar locations.
Manage the complexity of applications and constant changes in customer requirements.
Report to the Site Operations Manager.
Report indirectly to Process and Quality Leads such as the Program Manager (PM), Delivery Team Leader (DTL), and Account Development Manager (ADM).
Indirectly report to the Nebraska System Operations group.
Demonstrate system functionality to colleagues and end users as needed.
Follow established site and corporate policies and procedures. Help develop site QA procedures, test plans, and checklists. Work under limited supervision. All key decisions are governed by policy or referred to a superior.
Conduct regular analysis of data as part of standard requirements for research and analyses.
Correct errors with additional development and support resources. Regular opportunity for error, moderate supervision/policy guidance.
Frequently contact software and operations departments.
Have minimal day‑to‑day contact with Lottery employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Four‑year degree or equivalent, preferably in computer science.
3‑5 years of related experience.
SEI / CMM / ITIL framework knowledge suggested.

The estimated starting salary range is $39,848 - $103,002. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles may be eligible for short‑term incentive or other discretionary bonuses. More senior roles may be eligible for long‑term incentive bonuses.
