Job Description
About the Store Manager Role:
The Store Manager is a salaried role. The Store Manager provides daily leadership to all positions within the store, including General Service Technicians, Technicians, Guest Care Specialists, and Assistant Store Manager. Reporting to the District Manager, the Store Manager leads day-to-day store operations, including selecting, coaching, and developing store teammates. This role supports Monro’s vision to be America’s leading auto and tire service centers and promotes products and services to guests. Responsibilities: Develop sales and technical teammates to deliver a consistent 5-star Guest experience. Achieve sales goals by assisting in the development and implementation of sales plans, with thorough knowledge of services and products. Introduce tire and service products to guests to maximize sales and satisfaction. Support teammates by training and developing on shop operations and guest services. Provide direction and oversight to other technicians and assist with services/repairs as needed. Ensure the store is effectively staffed by recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and developing teammates. Manage expenses through payroll, communications, store maintenance, supplies, utilities, and other controllable costs. Oversee inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking. Audit courtesy inspections and maintain store cleanliness and guest-ready condition. Schedule guest appointments and assign tasks according to skill levels for efficient service completion. Meet Monro’s sales goals by informing and recommending tire and service products and promotions. Attend to all guest needs in sales, service, complaints, and adjustments; build guest relationships for satisfaction, loyalty, and retention. Convey repair and service needs to guests and ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain technical knowledge and complete Monro University training modules. Operate and maintain equipment safely according to guidelines (lifts, welders, brake lathes, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned. About the Assistant Store Manager Role:
The Assistant Automotive Store Manager is involved in all aspects of daily store operations, including safe operation of service bays. A comprehensive Management training program is provided from day one to prepare for progression. This role focuses on building guest relationships and delivering 5-star guest experiences while taking care of people and their cars. Responsibilities: Collaborate with Store Manager on store operations, hiring, training, coaching, disciplining, and terminating employees. Support technicians in maintaining a productive sales environment by training and developing on shop operations and guest services. Assist with scheduling, timecards, and assigning work to technicians. Perform duties of an automotive technician when needed. Attend meetings and clinics to stay current on tools, parts, and repairs. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated leadership experience in a retail/sales environment. Ability to manage, drive, and deliver financial results while controlling costs. Ability to influence and motivate a team to achieve goals. Problem solving, inventory management, merchandising, and customer service skills. Effective communication with teammates and guests. Complete all Monro required training within guidelines and timing. Must possess a current valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory MVR; ability to operate customers’ vehicles for test drives. Guest and team-focused mindset with experience in customer-facing environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical issues and write routine reports. Business mentality with the drive to exceed goals. Basic math skills to calculate figures and percentages. Proactive with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Ability to take initiative to identify problems, collect data, and make practical decisions. Ability to mentor, coach, and develop teammates; resolve customer complaints. Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This job operates in an automotive shop environment with moderate noise and exposure to chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; frequent standing, walking, and occasional reaching, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
