The University Police department is dedicated to ensuring the University Community's right to a crime free environment through exemplary and professional service. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Police Officer. Responsibilities

Under general direction, protect students, faculty, staff, campus visitors, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry; enforce laws and traffic regulations; apprehend violators; provide general information and assistance to the public; and assist in criminal investigations. Maintain a working knowledge of law enforcement methods and procedures, criminal codes and laws, and investigative techniques; specialize in Clery Act crimes and Title IX incidents. Perform general patrol and operational duties; assist in investigations or serve on special teams or task forces; may receive specialized on-the-job training for specialized functions. Patrol campus buildings and grounds by foot or vehicle, and patrol a one-mile jurisdictional boundary from campus property as mandated by law. Control crowds during assemblies or disturbances; guard property; investigate and prepare reports on accidents, property damage, fires, law violations, thefts and disturbances of the peace; gather evidence, make arrests and appear in court as required. Engage in work assignments that may include enforcing the law, crime suppression activities, issuing traffic citations, administering first aid to injured persons, and providing security at special events. Potentially receive training and/or be delegated responsibility for additional work assignments such as range master, drug recognition expert, canine handler, field training, defensive tactics instruction, motorcycle patrol, bicycle patrol, special evidence technician, crime prevention specialist, community relations programs, and membership in a critical response or special reaction team. CSUF Police Department Support

As a member of the CSUF Police Department, support teamwork and a healthy work environment; contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming university for Titans to thrive; represent the CSUF PD in campus engagement activities, campus events, and safety presentations by delivering excellent customer service to meet safety needs of the campus community. Perform other administrative safety functions and other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from a P.O.S.T. certified training program, including possession of a Basic Course Certificate. Working knowledge of current law enforcement methods and procedures; working knowledge of current criminal codes and laws. Effective interpersonal skills to resolve a wide variety of sensitive situations; strong oral and written communication skills to write clear and comprehensive reports. Demonstrated ability to think and act effectively in emergency and sensitive situations. Background check (including criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily; CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if disqualifying information is found or if information is knowingly withheld or falsified. Preferred Qualifications

Possess a P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate (worked at least one year as a California Peace Officer). College coursework in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related fields. Able to give credible oral presentations to diverse groups and represent the Department to develop mutual trust and respect. Aptitude to foster partnerships with the community in crime prevention; possess sound decision-making, teamwork, professionalism, and loyalty to the law enforcement profession. License / Certifications

A valid California driver’s license. State of California Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Dispatcher Certification. CPR / First Aid Certification. Special Working Conditions
