Police Officer The University Police department is dedicated to ensuring the University Community's right to a crime free environment through exemplary and professional service. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Police Officer. Responsibilities

Under general direction, protect students, faculty, staff, campus visitors, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry; enforce laws and traffic regulations; apprehend violators; provide general information and assistance to the public; and assist in criminal investigations. Maintain a working knowledge of law enforcement methods and procedures, criminal codes and laws, and investigative techniques and procedures. Perform general patrol and operational police duties; assist in investigations or as a member of special teams or task forces; participate in training to perform specialized functions. Patrol campus buildings and grounds by foot or vehicle, and patrol a one-mile jurisdictional boundary from campus property as mandated by law; manage crowds during assemblies or disturbances; guard property; investigate and prepare reports on incidents; gather evidence, make arrests and appear in court as required. Engage in duties such as crime prevention, traffic enforcement, first aid administration, security at special events, and potential assignments like range master, drug recognition expert, canine handler, field training, defensive tactics, motorcycle/bicycle patrol, special evidence technician, community relations, and participation in critical response or special reaction teams where assigned. As a member of the CSUF Police Department, the officer supports teamwork and a healthy work environment, contributes to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming university, and represents the department in campus engagements and safety presentations with excellent customer service. Performs other administrative safety functions and other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified training program, including possession of a Basic Course Certificate. Working knowledge of current law enforcement methods and procedures, and current criminal codes and laws. Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to resolve sensitive situations and write clear, comprehensive reports. Demonstrated ability to think and act effectively in emergency and sensitive situations. Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if disqualifying information is revealed or if it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. Preferred Qualifications

Possess a P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate (worked at least one year as a California Peace Officer). College coursework in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related fields. Ability to give credible oral presentations to diverse groups and represent the department to foster mutual trust and respect with the community. Aptitude to build partnerships in crime prevention and act as a solid decision-maker, team player, and professional in the field of law enforcement. Special Working Conditions
