DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING (Fuels Distribution, Alaska Business Unit)
ARC Group is seeking a strategic and collaborative Head of Accounting / Director of Accounting professional to lead the accounting function for our client’s Fuels Distribution business unit. This role is pivotal in driving modernization, integrating accounting processes into our clients’ ERP systems (including the transition to Vertrax and Oracle Fusion), and fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and business partnership.
Location : West Coast, US (think pacific time zone, with travel up to 25%)
Job Type : 12-month contract
Reporting To : Business Unit CVP of Finance and Operations
Director of Accounting Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of senior accountants.
Drive ERP integration and process modernization to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Oversee month-end/year-end close, reconciliations, and audit readiness.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls, and tax reporting (federal, state, and fuel-related).
Partner with Operations, Finance, and IT to align systems and decision-making.
Provide actionable insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
Director of Accounting Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
10+ years progressive accounting leadership experience
Background in fuel distribution, logistics, or asset-heavy industries preferred
ERP implementation experience (Vertrax, Oracle Fusion, or similar)
Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills
Change-oriented leader who builds trust and accountability
Skilled at simplifying complexity and fostering collaboration
