About the Role As an Indirect Tax Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with U.S. and Canadian indirect tax regulations. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing indirect tax returns, reconciling general ledger accounts, and collaborating with external consultants on specialized tax projects. You’ll conduct research on tax statutes and legislation, report findings to leadership, and contribute to process improvements across the tax function.
Responsibilities
Prepare and/or review indirect tax returns to ensure timely filing and payment
Reconcile G/L accounts related to indirect taxes for US
Work with outside consultants as needed on various indirect tax projects
Research and report findings related to indirect tax statutes and legislation to AVP of Indirect Taxes
Adhere to current policies and procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned by AVP of Indirect Tax, including but not limited to Canadian GST/HST transaction taxes
Maintain current knowledge of US sales/use tax laws and regulations or have the willingness and ability to learn and develop this knowledge
Evaluate, monitor and enhance existing processes and implement new processes/procedures as needed
Qualifications What makes you a dream candidate:
Knowledge of Leasing portfolios systems (Leasemaster or Infolease)
Leasing and automotive finance industry
Proficient with computer technology
Proficient with Oracle
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
Vertex L, M or O series
Working knowledge of Canadian taxation
Ability to learn and use new technology
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Excellent attention to detail
Familiarity with tax research software and vertex tax rate system
Good analytical and mathematical skills
Good research skills and experience with research software
Must be able to work closely with others
Must stay abreast of technical tax issues while seeking ways to enhance the tax process
Written and oral communication skills
Good knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax
Good knowledge of taxation of motor vehicle lease
Experience
3-5 years direct transaction or indirect tax experience required
Public accounting background preferred
Auto leasing industry experience preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
