POWER Engineers is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Augusta, Maine office. A hybrid work environment is available, with residency within driving distance of the office. Responsibilities

Collaborate within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design, adhering to client standards. Perform the detailed physical design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical design deliverables include one-line diagrams, physical layouts, equipment selection, general arrangement plans, sections and elevations, control building design, cable and conduit plans, ground grid design, lightning protection, yard lighting, material lists, and AC/DC systems sizing and calculations. Develop engineering documentation such as RFIs, scope documents, equipment specifications, protection and control descriptions, and construction specifications. Work with CAD designers/drafters to develop drawing packages. Coordinate designs with other disciplines (Substation Protection & Control, Structural, Civil). Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs. Contribute to engineering proposal development and to project scheduling and budget management. Required Education/Experience

Ability to function as a Substation Physical Engineer in the Augusta, Maine office. BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university, preferably with a power option. Understanding of substation equipment and its function. Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word). Clear English written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel. Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship. Desired Education/Experience

Experience in electric utility substation design (15kV through 500kV) is a plus. Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, and vendor drawings. Engineer Intern (EI) certificate or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. POWER Engineers, a member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm.
