Environmental Field Chemist Class B CDL Driver
(CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations and company policies. This position will work both indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, customer sites and is responsible for assisting with lab packs within customer facilities, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections and lab moves. This is a customer-facing position, working at customer sites daily. The Environmental Field Chemist is NOT laboratory-based.
Safe operation of vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state and federal requirements
Assist with lab packs, HHW collections, and lab moves at customer facilities
Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications
Inspect staging, storage areas, and drums for leaks, spills, and proper labeling
Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal in compliance with regulations
Perform projects at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies
Ensure final preparation and approval of projects before shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company policies
Follow site-specific Federal, State, and local regulations and health and safety plans
Understand customer-specific disposal restrictions and packaging requirements
Sample and profile new waste streams or wastes requiring analytical testing
Ensure drum count is correct and drum conditions are shippable per company policies
Follow all local, state, provincial, and federal compliance regulations
Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and company environmental health and safety practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Valid Class B CDL
Strong customer service skills
By position, obtain hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment
Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements
Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
Per OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard, employees in positions requiring respirators must meet facial hair standards
Preferred Qualifications
College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science
Previous experience in Environmental Services (e.g., remediation, abatement, emergency spill response)
