Serve as the Department’s Automation Specialist and GNSS liaison between various Bureaus (Highway Design, Construction, and Right-of-Way), advancing 3D modeling and GNSS use Department-wide. Ensure consistency in the use of GNSS hardware and software systems through development and application of policies, procedures, and QA/QC processes. Your Experience Counts

Education:

Associate\'s degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major in engineering, landscape architecture, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies, agronomy, geology, soil science or earth science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience. Experience:

Seven years engineering experience, two years of which shall have been at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician IV. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. License/Certification:

Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and access to transportation if required for field work. The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet minimum standards established by the hiring agency. Special Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge and experience in land surveying and construction engineering. Knowledge of GNSS equipment and software applications. Working knowledge of ArcGIS preferred. Ability to conduct training programs. Ability to perform job functions on active construction sites. Responsibilities

Coordinate all GNSS activities (digital inspection, 3D modeling, GNSS hardware/software use) related to e-Construction initiatives for the Bureaus of Construction, Highway Design, and Right-of-Way, including coordination with contractors for 3D models and GNSS equipment for automated machine guidance systems. Coordinate efforts with the Bureau of Highway Design to meet program goals. Develop processes and procedures for project delivery with CAD/D Section staff. Support the Geodetic Survey Section by maintaining access to the Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network through yearly subscription service. Provide subject matter expert advice and day-to-day technical support to field and office personnel in engineering and construction automation; may require routine visits to active construction sites. Develop standards and specifications for engineering and construction automation. Perform QA/QC of data outputs and ensure data is suitable for downstream use Department-wide. Coordinate and provide training and documentation for implementing 3D models and GNSS in daily construction inspections and related work. Coordinate deployment of GNSS equipment and software with the Construction Services Section.
