State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Maintenance has a full-time vacancy for a Civil Engineer IV. Location: Concord, NH. Position #21692. 40 Hours per Week. Base pay range: $31.33/hour - $42.60/hour. This position offers a Trainee Status at $30.02 per hour with specific qualification requirements. Summary: To perform professional engineering supervision of statewide bridge maintenance functions. All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with Federal, State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders. Responsibilities
Supervise Bridge Maintenance crews and implement safe and efficient construction practices. Review Bridge Construction Superintendent’s performance evaluations and make recommendations. Generate and review designs and field engineering to support Bureau maintenance and construction needs. Act as engineering liaison and facilitate bilateral communication between the Bureau’s construction personnel, office staff and the Department. Coordinate management systems with field crew operations, review performance measures, and make recommendations. Develop training programs on best materials and methods to ensure and improve project quality and production. Manage, recommend and implement modifications to computerized database systems for tracking equipment and consumable material inventories. Assess needs and order construction materials and equipment for the Bureau. Collaborate with the Bureau’s Program Specialist to track and implement Safety Programs. Serve on various workgroups, committees, and task forces as directed. Coordinate with other Department Bureaus and Districts to meet needs (equipment, personnel, permitting, traffic control, public relations, contractors, funding, purchasing, and computer training). Represent the Bureau and Department at public meetings discussing Bureau work. Supervise the Bureau’s warehouse operations as directed, including material transactions and equipment maintenance. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: Three alternative pathways. Master’s degree in engineering plus four (4) years of post-baccalaureate engineering experience. Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus six (6) years of post-baccalaureate engineering experience. Associate’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus six (6) years of engineering experience at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I (or higher), plus two additional years in a comparable Engineering Technician role. Licensing/Certification: Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer in New Hampshire or another state and obtain NH licensure within one year of employment. Licensure must be in Civil, Civil Highway, Geo Technical or Structural Engineering. Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or have access to transportation for statewide travel. Motor Vehicle Record must meet minimum standards established by the hiring agency. Special Requirements: Must have a telephone and willingness to be available for 24-hour call. All duties must comply with State and Department rules and policies, including safety and environmental standards. Compensation and Benefits
