What You Will Do

Conduct detailed design work, assembly layout and the creation of solid models in Solidworks.

Perform thermal and structural analyses in ANSYS Workbench.

Develop product life predictions utilizing stress-life and strain-life fatigue methods.

Write technical reports and support conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reviews to ensure designs meet internal and customer requirements.

Work with cross‑functional Integrated Project Teams (IPT) to develop cost‑effective, manufacturable designs that achieve quality standards and business objectives.

Contribute to the IPT through design expertise, identification and management of risks, creation of Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, and design modifications to improve manufacturability.

Support operations with ongoing technical support of products in production and in the field.

Develop repairs to support the Maintenance Repair & Overhaul of our products.

Develop and implement common procedures and standard work across the team to optimize efficiency and quality.

Review completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.

Design and review layouts of components, calculate stack‑up of detail components, and perform major cost studies consisting of new details and/or marked prints and all supporting documentation, when necessary, to facilitate operations and ensure that established objectives and budgets are achieved.

Develop and maintain internal software tools with the objective of driving automation, consistency, and efficiency among the engineering team.

Qualifications You Must Have

Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.

Qualifications We Prefer

Working experience in designing for manufacturing and assembly.

Solidworks and ANSYS Workbench experience strongly preferred.

Familiarity with fracture mechanics experience preferred.

Experience with stress‑life and strain‑life fatigue calculations of metallic components.

Experience with vibration testing of mechanical components.

Familiarity with design optimization tools.

Programming aptitude in Visual Basic and/or Python is a plus.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
