Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Hybrid) at GEICO. Finance Data Specialist to support the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how they use their technologies in managing GEICO's business. Responsibilities
Leverage strong functional and technical Finance Systems expertise to drive solutions that meet current and future needs of the department and GEICO. Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle. Support design sessions with peers to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations. Collaborate with Finance Leaders within FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering, and Finance Technology to align with organizational goals. Establish a vision and technology roadmap to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse. Understand finance data lake/mart concepts and data processing/ transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT). Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions. Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent). Develop and implement Revenue and Expense analytical solutions roadmaps. Influence customers and stakeholders and manage divergent expectations. Implement and maintain a strong governance framework for SOX and audit reviews. Lead discussions with Technology and Finance at various levels to align on long-term goals. Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications. Share best practices and continuously improve processes across teams. Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP or PeopleSoft). 3+ years of experience implementing and supporting FP&A applications (Preferred). 3+ years working with or supporting a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and related Financial Reporting tools. Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling. Knowledge of data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT). Strong SQL skills with the ability to write, debug, and optimize queries and ETL jobs. Experience with Financials via major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP). Finance domain expertise to translate process and functional needs into system solutions. Understanding of FP&A Budgeting, Planning, and forecasting processes. Experience implementing or supporting Revenue or Expense analytics via tools like Power BI or Tableau. Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations to partner with Finance teams. Effective communication with users across Technology and Finance. Knowledge of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices. Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of the software development life cycle. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience. Annual Salary
