Overview
Associate Lecturer/Lecturer - Biomedical Sciences, Rural - Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. Part-time, 21 - 28 hours a week (0.6 – 0.8 FTE neg). Fixed term contract until 30 June 2027. Remuneration: Academic Level A or Level B $91,381 - $127,947 per annum, pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading. Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must have full rights to work in Australia. Location: Port Macquarie, NSW, UNSW Rural campus. UNSW Rural delivers the full 6-year medical course across rural clinical campuses, emphasizing face-to-face teaching and strong engagement with the local medical community.
Responsibilities
Deliver and support biomedical sciences teaching within the undergraduate medical course at the Rural Clinical Campus.
Provide high-quality laboratory teaching and technical support, including setup and pack-down, equipment maintenance, safety, compliance, documentation, and inventory management.
Ensure smooth laboratory operations and regulatory compliance; maintain safety records and appropriate documentation.
Support and mentor students in laboratory environments; contribute to the educational experience in rural health education.
Possibly contribute to course components such as anatomy, physiology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, histology, pharmacology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, research methodology and statistics as required.
Qualifications & Skills
An MBBS/MBChB or undergraduate degree in a relevant medical sciences field, or a PhD with relevant experience;Selection at Academic Level A or B based on experience.
Active engagement in ongoing professional development and teaching practice.
Experience in biomedical sciences teaching; commitment to rurally focused education.
Experience with laboratory management, regulatory compliance, and safety management.
Ability to set up equipment, prepare solutions, develop samples/cultures, and supervise students with proper safety procedures.
Strong communication, teamwork, and ability to network with students and staff across disciplines.
Additional for Lecturer (Level B)
Experience in large and small group teaching and supervision with a focus on biomedical sciences.
Knowledge of information technologies for teaching (including eLearning).
Emerging research interest with peer-reviewed publications.
