UNSW . UNSW Rural (Port Macquarie campus) brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at rural clinical campuses. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery with students benefiting from personal interaction with clinicians and other academics, while integrating into the local medical community. UNSW’s program has supported the RHMT program for over 25 years, delivering excellence in rural medical education and student experience. Responsibilities

In the role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, ILP Coordinator, Rural you will have a passion for rural medical education, be committed to high quality teaching, and have an interest in rural health projects and research. The role focuses on developing and maintaining the Independent Learning Project (ILP) program at the campus, ensuring alignment with goals for introducing undergraduate medical students to research through supervised projects, hands-on experience, and developing self-directed learning skills and critical thinking. Coordinate, support and guide students studying their ILP including supervision, teaching and mentoring, reviews, thesis, presentations, coursework and final reports. Provide support in local hospital and clinical environments for ILP and other rural research projects, including design and governance, development of research skills, and ethics applications and approvals. Engage with local health and community networks (e.g., PHN, AMS) to build partnerships, participate in professional activities, and identify and submit funding opportunities where appropriate. Contribute to the development, improvement and maintenance of the RHMT Research Plan and rural research framework, including methodologies, data collection and analysis. Demonstrate experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students with a focus on rurally focused health and research projects. Qualifications

A Fellow of a Specialist Medical College and/or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field with experience in a medical/health environment, or equivalent professional experience. Experience coordinating, supporting and guiding ILP activities, including supervision, teaching and mentoring; ability to supervise theses, presentations and reports. Ability to provide support in local hospital and clinical environments for ILP and rural research projects, including design, governance, and ethics processes. Capability to engage with local health networks and build productive partnerships, including pursuing funding opportunities where appropriate. Experience contributing to rural health research planning and implementation, including data collection and analysis. Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students with a commitment to rurally focused health and research projects. Pre-employment Checks
