Allina Health The Postpartum Unit at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis is a 44-bed unit with a Level 1 Newborn Nursery, serving a diverse patient population in one of the state’s largest birth centers. Provides care to obstetrics patients and their families during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum period. Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed. Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills. Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care. Establishes, in collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patient present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care. Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable. Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion. Fulfills all organizational requirements. Supplemental roles: Charge Nurse (when acting in this role) and Preceptor (when acting in this role); coordinates, delegates, and directs unit operation and collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines. Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required if working in MN upon hire; WI DSPS required if working in WI upon hire Must meet at least one of the following: Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) or Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire) NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation (multisource as required for identified units per hiring manager) ACLS required for identified units per hiring manager RN-C in related specialty preferred Physical Demands

Medium Work: Lifting up to 32 lbs occasionally (per Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy); up to 25 lbs frequently Employment details

Tier requirements: Tier 1 – 6 months or more current RN experience in Abbott NW Postpartum unit required; Tier 2 – RN postpartum experience required; Tier 3 – 1-year acute care RN experience or new graduate RN with OB experience required Work schedule: 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two-week pay period); 12-hour day/night shifts; every third weekend rotation Pay and Benefits
