Peer Recovery Specialist I, Certified 'REPOST' (Part-time Contractual) role at

Maryland Military Department . This part-time contractual position provides support to clients in the Behavioral Health Program, specifically the Mental Health Clinic, through the Peer Recovery Specialist's own experience in recovery, mentoring/education, and advocacy. The role includes assisting individuals in learning choice, self-determination, and responsibility; planning and carrying out recovery-oriented activities; and serving as a liaison with the recovery community to familiarize clients with self-help groups for mental health and 12 Step programs, with engagement in the community. Responsibilities

Provide recovery-oriented activities and peer support to clients in the Mental Health Clinic. Mentor and educate clients using personal recovery experience; promote self-determination and responsible decision making. Advocate for clients and facilitate engagement with community resources and self-help groups (e.g., 12 Step programs). Serve as a liaison with the recovery community to support client participation in recovery activities. Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience:

None. Licenses, Registrations and Certifications

Candidates must possess a current certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within 24 months from date of hire from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB). Employees may be assigned duties requiring the operation of a motor vehicle and must possess a Maryland motor vehicle operator's license. Special Requirements

Failure to obtain the required certification by the end of 24 months of continuous employment may lead to disciplinary action including demotion, suspension or dismissal. Applicants must be in a state of recovery for 2 years from a substance use, mental health, or co-occurring disorder to qualify. Employees must complete any additional training deemed necessary to maintain required certification. Employees are subject to substance abuse testing per Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will undergo evaluation, which may include a rating of education, training and experience related to the position. Contractual employees eligible for subsidized health benefits if they work 30 or more hours per week (or on average 130 hours per month). Employee pays 25% of premiums; the State subsidizes 75%. Optional enrollment in dental, accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance (full premium paid by employee for these benefits). Leave: one hour per 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per calendar year. Further Instructions
