Job Summary and Qualifications
Cardiac Cath lab technicians are cardiovascular technologists who work in our facilities and run tests on heart health. They assist with the insertion of catheters into the heart and are responsible for measuring and administering special fluids. Key Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Supervisor and the CV Services Director, assist with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiology patient procedures in the catheterization labs, in cooperation with physicians and nursing personnel. Demonstrates knowledge of radiographic imaging principles, patient physiologic monitoring and cardiac arrhythmias recognition. Complies with sterile technique principles. Collects and assembles data for database, outcome analysis and performance improvement. Carry out other activities assigned by the Cath Lab Supervisor or CV Services Director to ensure department efficiency. Participate in the on-call rotation and be able to respond within 30 minutes to the Cath Lab when on call. Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology -OR- Radiologic Technology program in good standing with the ARRT -OR- a health science program (includes cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic/EMT). RT (R), RCIS, or RCES credential preferred upon hire. If none, must pass RCIS exam within two years from hire date. BLS required upon hire and ACLS required within ninety days of hire. 1-2 years of experience in interventional radiology lab and/or cardiovascular interventional lab preferred. On-call required and must be able to report to LS Medical Center within 30 minutes of call back.
